Hi there, this is the first post of this technology review blog. Let me give your an intangible but cordial welcome!
When we are a newcomer to a big city, one of the pressing problems would be transportation, whether you're commuting to school or work, or you just want to travel around. Arriving Boston two weeks ago, first time in the states actually, I have so far regarded this app as my most intelligent company that has been helping me with moving in, grocery shopping, and last but not least, going to school.
From my perspective, 'Transit' is a user friendly and convenient app for two simple reasons. First of all, the operations are similar to Google Maps, but it offers more options of public transport for travelers to choose from. See the screenshots for comparison.

As you can see, compared to Google Maps that only recommends the train in this case, Transit offers alternative public transport including buses and blue bikes. Moreover, in addition to estimated traveling time, Transit also advise leaving time for users to get to the station and hop on in time.
Secondly, although searching by pinning on the map is not new to people, Transit makes it more oriented toward public transport by showing the nearby lines and alternative stations more clearly. Also see the comparison with Google Maps.

Both Transit and Google Maps Shows the nearby transport lines; however, I think on transit it seems much easier to see and locate where exactly the stations are, and also the different colors help users to identify different options at a quick glance.
In a nutshell, though I still use Google Maps quite often, when I need to travel to a new place by public transport, at least in Boston, I will reach out to Transit as my first option for its easy-to-use and transit-oriented feature, as the name already tells.
